Job Title: Wave Planner


The role of the Wave Planner is to use the Fulfilment Center (FC) Warehouse Management System (WMS) to distribute work across the available labor pool in the FC, in the most efficient manner possible. The inflow (client orders) and release of 'picks' is distributed across the physical FC and the process path (single, multi, ship alone) using software, mathematical computation and continuous communication in a dynamic environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Wave planners need to have a strong understanding of priorities and manage to expedite them accordingly

Effectively communicates with outbound supervisors

Strong understanding and knowledge of the WMS wave planning software is needed to evaluate issues and to maximize efficiency

Provide feedback to supervisors on issue impacting work flow

Strong understanding of sorter control software

Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

Solve work flow issue using knowledge of all DC operations

Effectively communicates issues and directions to associates

Evaluates work processes for efficiency

Investigates and resolves work flow issues

Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager

Follows all safety guidelines and performs in a safe and careful manner

Experience with Microsoft applications and strong PC skills

Knowledge of the warehouse layout and the supervisor in charge of each area.

Working Conditions, MENTAL and PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must possess ability to read labels and operate RF scanners and maneuver throughout the facility

Must be able to follow instructions

Must possess capability to walk or stand for extended periods of time

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds 60% of the time

Must be able to push or pull carts of up to 100 pounds

Must be able to climb stairs

Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel and grasp products

Most facilities are climate controlled

Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certifications)

Education – High School diploma or general education degree (GED).

Experience – 2-4 years of experience in a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment preferred

Previous wave planning/expediting experience preferred
