Summary:
As a key member of our IT department, you will oversee the design, creation, management, maintenance, and optimization of our databases while leading a team of database administrators/engineers. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and effective communication to ensure the stability, security, availability, and performance of our databases.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of database administrators/engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure the team's success.
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability.
Develop and enforce database standards, policies, and procedures to maintain data integrity and security.
Collaborate with other IT teams and stakeholders to understand business requirements and implement database solutions that meet organizational needs.
Monitor database systems to identify and resolve performance issues, security vulnerabilities, and data inconsistencies.
Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data availability and minimize downtime.
Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in database administration to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Manage vendor relationships and contracts related to database software and services.
Prepare and present reports, proposals, and recommendations to senior management on database-related initiatives and projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience
7+ years of experience in database administration, with expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar database technologies.
Strong interpersonal and managerial skills.
In-depth knowledge of database management systems, data warehousing, and business intelligence concepts.
Experience with database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
Solid understanding of database security best practices and regulatory compliance requirements.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
