The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, coupled with leadership and people management skills. Summary:

As a key member of our IT department, you will oversee the design, creation, management, maintenance, and optimization of our databases while leading a team of database administrators/engineers. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and effective communication to ensure the stability, security, availability, and performance of our databases.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of database administrators/engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure the team's success.

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability.

  • Develop and enforce database standards, policies, and procedures to maintain data integrity and security.

  • Collaborate with other IT teams and stakeholders to understand business requirements and implement database solutions that meet organizational needs.

  • Monitor database systems to identify and resolve performance issues, security vulnerabilities, and data inconsistencies.

  • Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data availability and minimize downtime.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in database administration to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts related to database software and services.

  • Prepare and present reports, proposals, and recommendations to senior management on database-related initiatives and projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience

  • 7+ years of experience in database administration, with expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar database technologies.

  • Strong interpersonal and managerial skills.

  • In-depth knowledge of database management systems, data warehousing, and business intelligence concepts.

  • Experience with database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.

  • Solid understanding of database security best practices and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
